‘I believe’... Ian Wright waxed lyrical about ‘brilliant’ Crystal Palace star who is a ‘top-six player’

Crystal Palace are four Premier League games unbeaten after their hard-fought 1-1 draw with Fulham on Saturday, a game that saw one star earn high praise from Ian Wright.

It was another Premier League matchday for Crystal Palace to celebrate on Saturday as Oliver Glasner’s side earned a late point at Craven Cottage against Fulham.

The Eagles waited until the 87th minute to send the away end into pandemonium, a strike from Jeffrey Schlupp that was well worth the wait as Palace’s unbeaten run continued.

Since beating Liverpool at Anfield, Glasner’s side haven’t dropped momentum, scoring nine goals and claiming 10 points from a possible 12 in a remarkable turn in form.

The manager will be delighted to see his side working so well in his favoured 3-4-3 system, a formation that has brought joy to many, with one player really starting to show his worth after arriving at the club in January.

“As soon as these Euros are finished, I believe Adam Wharton gets called up to the England squad.

“He’s coming because I’ve watched him three, four times now, he’s brilliant.

“He’s brilliant, he’s a top-six player easily now as we speak. I’m going to keep my eye on him.”

Since experiencing a ‘baptism of fire’ on his Premier League debut, as put by former boss Roy Hodgson, Wharton’s performance levels haven’t dropped in a Palace shirt, consistently showing why the club were so eager to secure his signature.

Adam Wharton has a bright future ahead at Crystal Palace

It’s been quite the season for Wharton, who represented Blackburn Rovers in the Championship before being nabbed by the Eagles in the January window.

Not many would have expected the youngster to become such an integral part of Palace’s squad so quickly, with the midfielder yet to look back after making his debut.

As seen against Fulham, the Englishman is now key to how Glasner likes his side to play, claiming an assist for Schlupp’s goal as well as putting in a solid shift in the engine room, partnering expertly with Will Hughes.

Week by week it’s becoming more and more evident that Palace have got a real talent in their possession in Wharton, who is undoubtedly on the right path to edge closer to representing England at senior level in the future.
