'I don't expect': Michael Brown delivers Nottingham Forest relegation verdict

Michael Brown has delivered his verdict on whether or not Nottingham Forest will be relegated this season.

The Premier League hasn’t given Forest too many memories since they returned to the division in 2022.

Last season they stayed up with a game to spare and frankly, this season has been nothing short of a disaster.

Forest have been deducted four points during the campaign and have also seen manager Steve Cooper sacked.

In fairness, Nuno Espirito Santo has been dealt a bit of a bad hand but ultimately, he’s failed to really take Forest to another level.

Now, Brown has been discussing whether or not the Reds will be relegated from the top flight during the current campaign.

Michael Brown delivers Nottingham Forest relegation verdict

With just three games of the 2022/23 campaign to go, Forest are now going to get the heat turned up on their season.

Luton play their next two games before Forest do and that in itself could pile the pressure on the Reds.

Forest face Sheffield United on Saturday and with the Blades already relegated, it really is a must-win fixture.

Brown has now delivered his verdict on whether or not the Reds will survive relegation this season.

He toldBBC Sport: “Nottingham Forest have the players to stay up, but it all depends on whether Luton or Burnley pick up wins.

“With the form Forest are in, and with the level of uncertainty about the place, I do not expect them to get a huge amount of results between now and the end of the season.

“You would say they are favourites to stay up – that is for certain – but having that points deduction could cost them.”

Forest must now roll up their sleeves

With just a point between Forest and Luton, it really is getting towards crunch time.

Given their form – and the fact they face Forest on the final day – Burnley can’t be discounted at this stage either.

Forest have things in their hands, however, and if they can win a couple of their games, they should be just fine.

Brown makes some great points, however, and this angst towards match officials is not exactly helping things.

Forest must focus on the controllable aspects and that is playing decent football and showing fight – as they did yesterday against Manchester City.

Forest are so close – yet so far from safety – and now is the time to simply find a way to win games of football over the next three weeks.
