Report: Nottingham Forest player set to leave in the summer after decision already made on his future

Nottingham Forest are now preparing to wave goodbye to a player this summer after a decision has been made on his future.

It has been a tricky 2023/24 campaign for Forest who are still battling away at the bottom end of the Premier League.

And it will not get any easier for them this weekend when Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side welcome the reigning champions of Europe to the City Ground.

But going into the weekend sitting just one point off the drop will require Forest to forget the form guide as every point could be crucial.

A win for Luton Town against Wolves later today could even see Forest drop down into the bottom three ahead of their game on Sunday.

Regardless of whether Nuno’s men are able to maintain their spot in the top flight, it now seems one player will be leaving at the end of the term.

Relegation to the Championship could see a lot of outgoings over the coming weeks, but one player’s fate is already seemingly sealed.

27-year-old at Nottingham Forest now set for summer exit

There have been some seriously impressive campaigns put in by some individual Forest players this season.

Chris Wood‘s displays in front of goal have certainly been one of the main factors they are not lower in the table than they are.

And then there is Morgan Gibbs-White who has been the star performer this season and he will be one of the player’s who could make a difference on Sunday.

Forest will be performing in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Sunday and a panel of pundits who have showered the club in criticism over the last week.

One player who is unlikely to start on Sunday in the Forest side is the loanee Gonzalo Montiel who has barely featured all season.

And now, according to journalist Rudy Galetti, Forest will be returning the right-back to Sevilla at the end of his loan deal.

Forest are believed to hold a £9m option to make his stay permanent, but his lack of involvement this season will mean Forest will not take up that clause.

The 27-year-old has made just five starts in the Premier League this season with his 10 total league appearances offering 501 minutes.

Montiel is not the only Forest outcast potentially leaving this summer

It could be a summer of exits at the City Ground depending on what lies ahead of the club in their remaining four Premier League games.

But one player who is already receiving interest from the continent is winger Josh Bowler who is currently on loan with Cardiff City.

It is believed German second tier side Hertha Berlin are already showing some interest in the 25-year-old ahead of the summer window.

Bowler has been able to offer Cardiff a return of four goals and two assists this season but is due to return to Forest at the end of the term.

With not a single appearances for Forest to his name, this could offer the club a great opportunity to get Bowler off their books.
