'A concern': Alan Pardew says he's really worried about £40m Tottenham man; suggests Postecoglou is to blame

Tottenham’s second half comeback against Arsenal this weekend fizzled into nothing and Alan Pardew has a bit concern over one Spurs star.

Despite putting up a good fight in the second 45, Ange Postecoglou’s side couldn’t quite nab the third and instead had to watch Arsenal celebrate wildly.

For Tottenham and their fans, it was a bitter pill to swallow on a day where they could very much have derailed Arsenal’s title hopes.

Of course, the first half was the big issue for Spurs as they simply got overrun by the Gunners.

A number of Tottenham’s top players simply didn’t turn up to the party and it cost them dearly as Arsenal raced into a 3-0 lead.

Indeed, one of the players to not produce on the day was £40m summer signing, James Maddison.

And speaking about Maddison on TalkSPORT this morning, Alan Pardew expressed major concerns about the England man.

Alan Pardew worried by James Maddison at Tottenham

Speaking on the the TalkSPORT breakfast show today, Pardew admitted he has some worries around Maddison and his confidence.

“Maddison has been a concern since the injury. We looked at that stat. I think he has been subbed the last nine games. That can’t do his confidence any good, a player that actually is built around confidence.

“So, the injury, the confidence and getting taken off, that is all contributing to his perhaps below-par performances,” Pardew said.

Maddison will be sweating over his place in the England squad this summer given current form and fitness issues prior.

As Pardew mentions here, he has been taken off a number of times and looks a shadow of the player we saw in the earlier weeks of the season.

Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou have simply got to get Maddison going again or risk losing out completely on that top four spot.
