Ally McCoist has given his verdict on whether Leeds United can still finish in second place and tonight’s result between Ipswich Town and Coventry City.
Following the weekend’s results, Daniel Farke’s side remain in second but by the skin of their teeth after Leeds lost 4-0 to QPR on Friday night. A dismal result in a game that Leeds should really be winning.
It handed Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich the chance to take advantage on Saturday and they came close to doing so. But Liam Rosenior’s Hull held The Tractor Boys to a 3-3 draw, equalising in the 87th minute.
The results see Leeds stay in second but Ipswich boast a game in hand which will be played on Tuesday night as Ipswich go to Coventry. Ipswich must avoid defeat to go above Leeds before the final weekend.
A loss for Ipswich sees both stay 90 points and the pendulum swing back into Leeds’ favour. Leeds would go up if they win at Elland Road on the weekend, regardless of Ipswich’s result against Huddersfield.
Ipswich are winless in four and have picked up just three points from a possible 12. There is every chance that McKenna’s side lose to a strong Coventry side tonight – who will be playing without pressure.
Ally McCoist told TalkSPORT (30/04, 6.15AM) believes that Ipswich will get over the line ahead of Leeds in second place and tonight, The Tractor Boys will win at least a point against Coventry.

“I don’t care what anybody says. The job Kieran McKenna has done at Ipswich is up there with anything anybody has done in the last two years. I think they’ll get it, I really do. I think they’ll get over the line.
“A remarkable achievement and to do it the way they do it. Ipswich are an excellent watch. I definitely think they’ll get the four points and I think they’ll get at least one of them tonight,” McCoist said.
Ipswich could be without former Leeds left-back Leif Davis on Tuesday night, which is a massive blow for McKenna’s men after he limped off during the draw against Hull in the 82nd minute on Saturday.

Davis has been incredible this season, scoring twice and creating a massive 21 goals for McKenna’s side with his set-pieces and crossing both excellent. He even got an assist before going off injured at Hull.
The defender has only missed three league games this season. While it is not much to go off, Ipswich have only scored one Championship goal in those three games without the left-footed assist machine.
With him, in the other 41 Championship matches, Ipswich have scored 87 goals. More than two a match and if he is missing against Coventry, it reduces Ipswich’s goal threat considerably. All eyes on tonight.
