Report: 59-year-old manager holds talks with West Ham owners, he wants Premier League move

So it seems like Hansi Flick could be the man to replace David Moyes as the new West Ham United manager.

Hansi Flick is a man who has been mentioned recently as a potential replacement for David Moyes at West Ham, but at the time he was apparently just ‘in the frame’ for the job.

Moyes’s time at the London Stadium is clearly coming to an end after a miserable run of form in 2024 that has seen us win just four of our last 22 games in all competitions.

However, the 61-year-old Scot did seem to hint on Saturday that he could well still be in charge at West Ham next season.

I just can’t see how that could even happen. I’m convinced that Moyes will be on his way as soon as the 2023/24 season finishes.

However, what I’m entirely unsure about right now is which man will be handed the reins at the London Stadium…

Hansi Flick could well be the next West Ham manager

In order to make some genuine progress, the Hammers owners need to appoint a manager who implements a footballing style that is conducive with competing with the top teams for a place inside the top six.

I would prefer a young up and coming manager – someone with fresh ideas and an innovative approach to tactics.

Flick certainly doesn’t fit into that category, but he’s still a very good manager, and the football he deploys is light and day from Moyes’s.

Now a fresh claim has been made that means he definitely could be the new man in the West Ham dugout next season…

According to a report from German outlet Neunzigplus, Hansi Flick has actually held talks with the West Ham owners already, and he wants to move to the Premier League.

The German has an extensive history of success throughout his time in the game, with two league titles, a German cup and a Champions League winner’s medal to his name.

He also won four Bundesliga titles as a player. The football that he implements is extremely easy on the eye, and he usually sets up with a 4-2-3-1 formation.

He likes his players to create triangles all over the pitch, and is a fierce advocate of tiki-taka. I think he’d actually be a smart appointment from the Hammers board.

However, I still expect West Ham to move for someone younger than Hansi Flick. Football is a fast moving game, with young managers entering the fray every season with totally different takes on how the game should be played.

Is Flick yesterday’s man? Maybe…but I’d still prefer him to Moyes.
