‘In recent days’: Chelsea have contacted 41-year-old manager about replacing Mauricio Pochettino – journalist

Journalist Eleonora Trotta has stated that Chelsea have been in touch with one manager about potentially taking over at Stamford Bridge.

She took to Twitter to state that the Blues have made contact, although the 41-year-old is currently expected to make the move to another top side.

Mauricio Pochettino is under pressure to deliver the club European football for next season in his first campaign in charge, with them no doubt needing a big push in the final few games.

Mauricio Pochettino under pressure

He will be hoping to get the same fight out his players that he saw in the second half at the weekend against Aston Villa, with goals from Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher helping them to a 2-2 draw.

Figures on the board will no doubt be doing their due diligence over who is best placed to replace the Argentine if needs be though, and it has been reported recently that one man in Italy has caught their attention.

Thiago Motta is reportedly admired at the club, with him working wonders in Serie A as the manager of Bologna.

Trotta has now claimed that the Blues have actually reached out to the former midfielder, however he is expected to stay in his home country for his next move.

She said: “Thiago Motta to Juventus: in recent days there has been a survey, not in-depth, by Chelsea for the coach of Bologna, who has been in agreement for months with the Bianconeri regarding the new course.”

If Chelsea do part ways with Pochettino, there are a number of names strongly linked with the switch to Stamford Bridge.

One of those is Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton, however his form in 2024 will no doubt be a concern for the decision makers.

Elsewhere,Ruben Amorim has been reported as a target, with him looking as if he could leave Sporting Lisbon at the end of this campaign.
