‘Keen’: Multiple Saudi Arabian clubs are looking to sign ‘fantastic’ Chelsea player this summer – journalist

Journalist Ben Jacobs has stated that there are multiple clubs in Saudi Arabia who are considering signing one Chelsea player this summer.

He took to Twitter to state that even one of the soon-to-be-promoted sides would be keen on striking a deal with the Blues at the end of the season.

A number of players who were once crucial for the first team at Stamford Bridge have been moved on to Saudi Arabia in the last 12 months.

Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly were sold there, while club legend N’golo Kante made a free transfer at the end of his previous contract.

They were not the only ones who were considered over there though. It was widely reported that the Blues were looking to ship Romelu Lukaku off there over the summer, as they finally looked for a permanent home for the Belgian.

Instead, he was loaned out to Roma, where he has been finding the net regularly, particularly in Europe.

There is no doubting his quality as a striker though. He was described as‘fantastic’ by Thomas Tuchel.

Jacobs has claimed though that there looks as if there is going to be fresh interest in his services at the end of this season.

Multiple Saudi clubs interested in Romelu Lukaku

He said: “Romelu Lukaku was subject of an accepted €45m Al-Hilal bid last summer. Chelsea wanted him to go. Al-Hilal have other options in mind now, but several Saudi clubs still keen. Al-Shabab and soon-to-be promoted Al-Qadsiah (Aramco-owned) have discussed Lukaku internally.”

Despite the fact Mauricio Pochettino hinted that he had not ruled out using Lukaku as part of his squad next season, it doesn’t feel as if there is much future for him at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea supporters will also be hoping this saga is brought to a permanent end in the coming months, with them feeling as if they have been sold short for what was promised when they spent what at the time was a club-record fee on the striker.
