"Quite fortunate": Simon Jordan says Oliver Glasner has got lucky with one thing at Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner has impressed since becoming the manager at Selhurst Park, but Simon Jordan isn’t yet convinced, here’s why.

For Crystal Palace, the past four games have been like a dream considering how poor the rest of this season has been.

The draw against Fulham has left the Eagles on a four-match unbeaten run and firmly in the midtable fight.

Delighted with how his side are playing, Oliver Glasner has given his team extra days off this week.

However, despite how well Glasner has been undoubtedly doing over the past few weeks, pundit and former Palace chairman, Simon Jordan has stated that Glasner has been lucky about one thing.

Here’s what he said…

Simon Jordan is withholding judgement on lucky Oliver Glasner

Glasner’s start to life at Selhurst Park has been more than encouraging, but not everyone is sold on him just yet.

Speaking on the Simon Jordan and Graeme Souness show for talkSPORT, Glasner was a hotly debated topic, with Jordan having a lot to say.

“I think he’s been quite fortunate because he’s got Olise and Eze getting back in the side and I think those are the two players that make that team tick. Offensively, without those two guys, they were a different level.

“I don’t know Glasner, he comes with a reputation of having done a really good job at Eintracht Frankfurt but also ultimately getting himself into a position where he was a little bit temperamental. Is that a bad trait? I don’t know.

“It looks like on paper it’s a coup, but it looked like on paper that Patrick Vieira was a coup in certain people’s minds.

“I will only judge him when he’s had his preseason, reshaped his squad, got his own personnel in and we’ll see how he does then.”

Jordan is 50% right which proves Crystal Palace must do one thing this summer

While seeming harsh, Jordan is half right with his verdict here but primarily about what needs to happen this summer.

We wouldn’t say he’s been lucky, considering he’s done well without Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze at various stages, but judgment should be reserved for once we’ve seen what he’s got in store for next season.

This includes over the summer, with some significant squad strengthening expected to take place over various positions.

That being said, it’d be ridiculous to ignore the progress that Glasner has made in such a short time at the helm.
