Oliver Glasner shares why £12m Crystal Palace player was “angry” in training on Friday

Oliver Glasner watched his Crystal Palace side draw 1-1 with Fulham on Saturday, afterwards he had an interesting story to tell.

Crystal Palace made it four consecutive games without a loss on Saturday during a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

In the draw, Adam Wharton was the standout performer and even assisted the equaliser for Palace.

But the headlines were stolen by Jeffery Schlupp who scored a brilliant goal to earn the Eagles a point.

It was one of those goals you don’t get to see often and has left Oliver Glasner in awe. But before he discussed the goal he explained what made Schlupp angry in training.

Oliver Glasner shares why Jeffery Schlupp was angry in training

Speaking after the game to the press, Glasner shared a story about Schlupp from Friday, which is made very interesting by what he did in the game on Saturday.

“Schlupp was a little bit angry because yesterday we had a finishing exercise with old players against young players, and the old players lost.”

“I think that’s why he wanted to score.”

Hearing this, it seems clear that Schlupp took the training challenge loss personally and thought he’d just have to show his teammates how it’s done.

He certainly did that too with his strike likely to be nominated for the Goal of the Month award. But what did Glanser think of the strike?

Let’s find out…

During his press conference post-game, Glasner elaborated upon that story to laud the goal itself.

“The finish is amazing,” Glasner explained as he was clearly in awe of the finish.

“All of the substitutes brought a great energy at the end of a very tough week and we had an amazing goal from Jeffrey so I’m pleased with the performance.

“We started from the right with Adam Wharton, who played a pass to Jeffrey and with his second touch, he had a great finish.”

The Austrian boss seems proud of his team for their fight to equalise, but all the plaudits must go to Schlupp.
