Report: Two Crystal Palace players are now almost certain to leave this summer

For Oliver Glasner, this summer will be hugely important to his success at Crystal Palace, now it seems two players are nailed on to exit.

Crystal Palace are expected to have a pretty substantial turnover of players this summer as the Oliver Glasner era takes shape.

This will come in the form of incomings and big money outgoings.

However, there are also eight players whose contracts are expiring come June with none of these players sure to get a new contract.

While some will be unsure over whether Dougie Freedman extends their deals or not, now it’s been reported that two names are almost sure to depart.

Here’s who…

Two players certain to be released this summer

According to a report by The Athletic, two players haven’t impressed enough to be in line for a potential new contract.

These two players are Jairo Riedewald and James Tomkins, with both being players who don’t exactly boast the most relevant qualities to how Glasner wants to play.

Tomkins has been snubbed in defence with Nathaniel Clyne, Jefferson Lerma and Joel Ward picked ahead of him, which makes grim reading for his chances.

Riedewald has been given a few chances but hasn’t impressed enough to warrant keeping him, such as the likes of Will Hughes and Jeffery Schlupp have done with their individual contributions.

Releasing these two will free up some more wage budget to use this summer in strengthening the squad.

How much will Crystal Palace save on the wage bill?

This summer the departures are likely to fund the rebuild for the Eagles, and free transfer exits are no different.

Letting Tomkins and Riedewald go will free up a healthy chunk which could be utilised on two far more suitable players.

This is a substantial amount which in all honestly is incredible that it’s been wasted on these two this season.

£105k a week is an amount which could hand one or two top targets a healthy wage, for a player who offers Palace 10x what this duo have given of late.
