Report: Three London clubs are all trying to sign Chelsea player who's going to leave Stamford Bridge

Thiago Silva is set to depart Chelsea this summer after nearly four years at the club.

Silva joined the West Londoners during the summer of 2020, arriving from Paris Saint-Germain after eight years in Ligue 1.

He joined on an initial one-year deal but it quickly became clear that he had much more to offer despite his age.

The veteran centre-back racked up over 150 Chelsea appearances and was a fixture of the historic 2020/21 side that won the Champions League.

Silva recently announced that he would be leaving at the end of his contract which expires in June and that has sparked a great deal of interest around the Premier League and abroad.

Silva evidently has plenty left to give and remains, arguably, Chelsea’s best defender despite approaching his 40th birthday.

But notwithstanding that, club chiefs obviously feel it’s right that he departs in the summer and already there is transfer speculation over his next move.

According to TNT BR journalist Aline Nastari, Silva has three offers from London clubs, as well as one from Brazillian outfit Fluminense.

The journalist further claims that his family will remain in England regardless of what club he signs for, so that would indicate a preference to stay in the Premier League, one would imagine.

Fluminense are hoping that he has a desire to return to his former club, having spent three separate spells there.

They also bank on their relationship with Chelsea and the possible objection of allowing him to leave for a rival club in the capital.

Thiago Silva still has so much to offer

Silva has made 34 appearances this season and his statistics are very impressive.

As per FBref, the 113-cap Brazil international is in the top one per cent for pass completion compared to his positional peers across the top five leagues.

Further, Silva ranks in the top 11 per cent for non-penalty goals, having netted four this term, evincing his threat from set-pieces.

He also has the most blocks and clearances per 90 across the entire Chelsea squad, according to Fotmob.

So, whichever club he ends up at this summer, they certainly won’t be getting a typical 39-year-old, as the data backs up.
