You Can Do Sport academy announces expansion with YMCA collaboration

In a groundbreaking move for youth sports and education in the area, the You Can Do Sport (YCDS) Academy has announced its expansion in collaboration with the Central YMCA.

This strategic partnership aims to provide more inclusive and diverse educational pathways for young athletes in Newark and beyond.

For the past five years, You Can Do Sporth has called Magnus Church of England Academy home, nurturing young talent within a sixth-form school environment.

Now, the academy is broadening its horizons by adding the YMCA Newark as a second hub for its students.

A spokesman from You Can Do Sport said that this dual-site approach ensures that every student can find a path that resonates with their personal and academic aspirations.

You Can Do Sport plans to maintain its high standards by synchronizing training sessions across both venues.

Whether students are interested in boxing, football, personal training, or rowing, they can benefit from the academy’s quality and expertise said their spokesman.

The YMCA location will offer a level three Diploma in Personal Training, Outdoor Exercise, and Sports Conditioning.

This qualification is equivalent to one A-Level and is designed for individuals interested in becoming personal trainers, fitness instructors, or specializing in outdoor fitness and sports conditioning.

The YMCA will also offer a Level three Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity.

Equivalent to two A-Levels, this comprehensive program qualification covers a wide range of topics related to sports and physical activities but does so without the requirement of final exams.

The emphasis is on continuous assessment through coursework, practical demonstrations, and project work, making it ideal for students who perform better in non-exam-based environments.

This qualification prepares students for various roles within the sports sector, including coaching, sports development, and facility management, or for further studies in related fields.

The academy’s expansion represents not only a step forward but a leap toward empowering young athletes and learners in Newark and the surrounding areas.
