‘Big decision’: Matt Holland suggests ‘phenomenal’ manager would struggle to turn down West Ham now

Matt Holland has suggested that one manager may struggle to turn down West Ham United if he’s offered the job this summer.

David Moyes’ future remains up in the air ahead of his contract coming to an end this summer.

TBR confirmed last week that West Ham are yet to make a decision over the Scotsman’s future, but they are looking at potential replacements.

Italian coach Eusebio Di Francesco is one name that has been put forward to the Hammers, while Tim Steidten is keen on bringing Thomas Tuchel to the London Stadium.

The likes of Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim, Lille boss Paulo Fonseca, former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui and his replacement Gary O’Neil are all under consideration.

But former Hammers midfielder Matt Holland has been speaking about Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna’s chances of landing in the Premier League.

Holland suggests Kieran McKenna would struggle to turn down West Ham

Speaking on talkSPORT, Holland claimed McKenna would have a ‘big decision’ to make if the likes of West Ham or Brighton come calling.

“Getting to the Premier League you’d like to think he would stay but if someone like a Brighton or a West Ham come in for him, then he has a big decision to make,” he said.

Ipswich currently have their fate in their own hands after picking up a 2-1 win at Coventry City last night.

McKenna’s men sit three points clear of third-placed Leeds United, with their final game of the season on Saturday at home to Huddersfield Town.

McKenna’s impressive Ipswich spell

It’s no surprise to see McKenna being linked with a move to the Premier League given the ‘phenomenal‘ job he’s done at Portman Road.

The 37-year-old is closing in on back-to-back promotions after taking over the Blues in League One back in December 2021.

He was even labelled a ‘dark horse’ to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool last month. But the Reds seem to have decided on Arne Slot.

Nevertheless, should Ipswich secure their first season back in the top flight since 2001-02, you’d imagine that McKenna will be keen to remain in East Anglia.
