22-year-old forward with ‘great potential’ could be perfect Michael Edwards signing for Liverpool

There’s a 22-year-old player Liverpool could be keeping an eye on and he’s the perfect Michael Edwards signing.

The Michael Edwards era is back at Liverpool after a two-year hiatus. Edwards has returned as head of football operations under FSG, after previously being employed as the club’s sporting director.

With Richard Hughes, who will be appointed as Liverpool’s sporting director, Edwards will form an interesting leadership team in the club’s recruitment department.

It’s a team that will recruit based on data led research, and will be target under the radar gems. That’s what Edwards had a knack for in his heyday at Liverpool, and that’s what he will be hoping to continue now.

Yuito Suzuku could be the perfect Michael Edwards signing

One player who Liverpool scouts watched in action recently is Yuito Suzuki. The Japanese forward has been tipped to have ‘great potential’ by his manager at Brondby and has been catching the eye this season.

So far Suzuki has 17 goal contributions in 25 games for IF Brondby in all competitions this season. A very versatile player, he has been likened to Takumi Minamino, and shares the same agent as the former Liverpool forward.

Like Minamino, Suzuki can be deployed anywhere across the front three. He’s also got a very unique ability in that he is comfortable using both feet, and has scored with his left and his right this season.

Given his performances, he could be the perfect under the radar gem for Liverpool, the kind which Edwards used to love signing.

Why Yuito Suzuki makes sense for FSG as well

One of the main reasons why Edwards returned to continue working with FSG is because of the club’s owners’ ambition to buy another club.

FSG intend to build a multi-club model for Liverpool, which is why Edwards was appointed as head of football operations, rather than sporting director.

Suzuki would be the perfect profile to bring into that other club, and help him grown and develop in the system in order to bridge the gap between the Danish top flight and the Premier League.
