'Great opportunity': Mauricio Pochettino hints he may be about to play Chelsea youngsters against Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that he could be about to look to the depths of his squad when picking a Chelsea team for tomorrow.

The Blues have been plagued by injuries throughout this entire season, however it is arguably at the worst point it has been all season for the manager.

Pochettino confirmed in his pre-match press conference that he was going to be without both Axel Disasi and Thiago Silva, joining the likes of Malo Gusto, Levi Colwill and Reece James as unavailable defenders right now.

It means the options are very limited for the boss to pick his defence to take on Tottenham right now, with Alfie Gilchrist almost certainly going to move into the starting side.

As far as young players go, the former Under 21s captain has been the one who has been given real opportunities to impress this season.

Pochettino to give Chelsea youngsters a chance

However, Pochettino hinted in his pre-match press conference that he may have to look to more of the stars at Cobham when it comes to naming his full squad at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night.

He said: “Tomorrow is a great opportunity for some kids to play.”

There are a number of players who have impressed as part of the academy this season, and who some supporters feel have earned their chance already.

Chance for Cesare Casadei to impress

The likes of Cesare Casadei are certainly pushing for a start after a number of cameos off the bench since returning from loan in January.

As far as proper youngsters go, the likes of Tyrique George have enjoyed superb seasons as part of the academy, and have even been close to being in squads in the past.

With plenty of experience already under his belt training under Pochettino and the rest of the first team setup, tomorrow night could be a golden opportunity for him to make the step up at Stamford Bridge.
