"When I saw it": West Ham star says he was stunned by what £12m Crystal Palace player did last week

Michail Antonio has been raving about one Crystal Palace player who did something very special against Fulham over the weekend.

For Oliver Glasner, the fact that even squad players are shining brightly should say a lot about the impact he’s having on the squad.

Since arriving at Crystal Palace, Glasner has turned the Eagles into a team capable of performing well even when Michael Olise or Eberechi Eze aren’t on fire.

The likes of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew emerged initially as benefactors of the Glasner effect, but after last weekend, there might be another player who’s also benefiting.

Now, this player has had his flowers courtesy of both Michail Antonio and Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney who will have seen the moment live.

Michail Antonio and Tom Cairney react to Jeffrey Schlupp’s goal against Fulham

Speaking on this week’s episode of the Footballers Football Podcast, the two current Premier League players, Antonio and Cairney both reacted to Jeffrey Schlupp‘s incredible goal.

When asked his thoughts on the goal, the West Ham striker explained: “When I saw it, I felt like messaging Jeff, I thought ‘That ain’t you’. I didn’t do it though.”

Cairney then chimed in praising Schlupp’s power: “He’s got power though, he’s a powerful boy.”

Antonio continued, “He’s a good player man, he’s like a utility man, you know what I mean. Batman’s belt cause man’s played everywhere.”

Cairney then finally added, “It was a banger.”

Schlupp’s goal nominated for Crystal Palace’s goal of the season

Such a sublime strike couldn’t not be nominated for the club’s goal of the season award.

To smash it into the top corner from that distance while Palace were losing, to draw the sides level, it was a special moment.

On the nominations list, however, he has some tough opposition as both Olise and Eze have a couple of nominations each, along with top strikes from Ayew and Jefferson Lerma.

Schlupp however will be right up there which is crazy considering he is currently set to depart for free next month, after costing £12m in 2017.
