£3m Newcastle player has not been spotted in training ahead of Burnley game

There is good and bad news from the Newcastle United training ground ahead of Saturday’s game against Burnley.

After sending Sheffield United down to the Championship, Newcastle United are now preparing to take on relegation-threatened Burnley at Turf Moor. But the Clarets have a much greater chance of survival, and should prove to be a tricky opponent.

For Eddie Howe, three points are essential. The Magpies need to keep winning, as they bid to qualify for Europe. Top six is the aim, with Newcastle desperate to reach the Europa League or the Europa Conference League.

Newcastle United defender forced off against Sheffield United

However, there could be a fresh injury concern for Newcastle United to consider ahead of this weekend’s game.

The Magpies have endured a crazy amount of injury problems during this campaign, and they are not going away as we reach the latter stages.

The latest worry is Fabian Schar, who was only able to play 45 minutes against Sheffield United on Saturday. He had to come off at half time, and was nearly forced to be withdrawn much earlier.

After the game, Howe stated that the £3million man had a hamstring problem, which meant he could not sprint.

Emil Krafth took his place and did well, but Newcastle officials will have everything crossed that Schar is available for the upcoming trip to Lancashire.

Whether Fabian Schar has been seen in Newcastle United training

However, it remains to be seen if Schar will be involved this weekend.

The club provided an update on their official website on Wednesday, sharing 27 training photos from this week as Howe’s players prepare to face Burnley.

The likes of Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon were involved, as were youngsters Alex Murphy and Ben Parkinson.

However, there was no sign of Schar. That is a concern, and he remains a doubt for the game against Burnley.

Of course, this does not rule him out. He still has time to recover, while the fact he has not been seen does not necessarily mean he has not trained.

Some positive news ahead of Newcastle’s game against Burnley

We await an official update on Schar, but there is also some good news.

While it is unclear if the 32-year-old will be available this weekend, there is suddenly a chance that an injured player could return.

Miguel Almiron has been seen in training, having missed Newcastle’s previous five games due to a knee injury.

He limped out after just coming on against West Ham back in March, but now appears to be in contention for the Magpies’ final four games of the season.

It was reported that Almiron was the most likely to return out of him, Kieran Trippier, Joelinton and Nick Pope, and it seems as though that is the case.

As for the others, they have not been seen in training. Trippier is over in Dubai as he bids to be back for Brighton, while Joelinton and Pope have not been pictured.
