Report: £175k-a-week Chelsea player is now only worth a quarter of what the club signed him for

It is fair to say that while performances and results have not always been there, it is not for the want of trying things have not worked out brilliantly since the change of ownership at Chelsea.

Todd Boehly has facilitated an incredible magnitude of transfers since taking over as the owner, with there being a focus on both players for the present and the future.

The first transfer window the American was here for is not looked back on too fondly, with a scattergun approach being taken to strengthening their squad.

The additions of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kalidou Koulibaly only lasted a season, whilst some who are still here are not too popular either.

Raheem Sterling was the marquee addition of the window, however has struggled to convince everyone of his abilities in the two seasons he has been at the club.

Another who has endured some tough moments is Marc Cucurella, who was brought in for a large fee back in 2022.

However, according to The Athletic, who were sourced information by the CIES Football Observatory, state that his value has dropped to just a quarter of what he was signed for, to around £15m.

The Spain international is on a large contract in comparison to his teammates, earning around £175k-a-week.

While his whole time at the club has not been too successful, he is actually in a pretty good run of form right now at a time where his club have needed him the most.

With injury issues for Ben Chilwell, he has been the only fit natural left-back in recent weeks as the club look to rescue a place in Europe for next season.

Whether Cucurella will be a part of the squad at that point remains to be seen, with him one of the players who have been reported to be up for sale this summer.
