Newcastle United have joined Nottingham Forest in the race for 'incredible' attacker

Newcastle United have joined Nottingham Forest in the race for an incredible forward, according to a report.

The Magpies evidently have one eye on the fast-approaching summer transfer window, as Eddie Howe looks to add to his injury-ridden squad.

This season promised so much, with Champions League football returning to St James’ Park, but ultimately it’s been a pretty underwhelming one.

Though, Howe’s men can still attain a Europa League finish, as they reside just one point adrift of Manchester United, who occupy sixth.

It’s become clear that Newcastle need more depth in their squad to compete on four fronts and with that said, they’ve just been linked with a move for an ‘incredible’ forward.

Newcastle United want Aziz Issah

The Tynesiders have joined Nottingham Forest in the race for 18-year-old forward Aziz Issah, according to Ghana Soccernet.

Issah is also being eyed by Sporting, who may look to replace fellow Ghanian Abdul Fatawu after his loan became permanent at Leicester City.

The Dreams FC man has netted 10 goals whilst laying on three assists this term, primarily operating as a number 10.

Though, the left-footed playmaker has also played off both flanks, evincing his terrific versatility – an incredibly popular trait nowadays.

The cost of Aziz Issah

Aziz Issah has a Transfermarkt value of £85,000, though, it is unlikely that would be sufficient to pry him away from Dreams.

Using Fatawu’s move from the Ghanaian side Steadfast FC to Sporting in 2022 would be a better metric to identify how much he’d cost.

Steadfast received around £427,000 for the then 18-year-old in 2022, so Newcastle will likely have to outlay a similar fee to that to land the new prodigy emerging out of Africa.

Even then, it’d represent a fantastic deal and a relatively low-risk one at that, so club chiefs should seriously consider launching a proposal before other potential suitors join the race.

Any forthcoming deal would likely see him link up with the under-21s initially to see how he fares and then a decision will be made thereafter on whether he is ready for Howe’s first team or if a loan is needed to further his development.

It’s certainly a deal to keep an eye on.
