A well-known Newark football competition is to be resurrected as a girl’s trophy.
The Mumby Shield will take place on Wednesday, May 8 at Chuter Ede, Balderton where teams of year three and four girls from across the area will compete to win it.
Teams will consist of seven players and a maximum of two substitutes.

The competition will be held under the Newark and District Primary Schools’ Sports Association umbrella.
The Mumby Shield was first played for as an inter-school competition in 1906 and has a rich history in the area.
Former England player Willie Hall won the trophy in 1924 and 1925 as captain of Lovers Lane.
