Celtic winger Luis Palma sends classy message as former club fights relegation

Luis Palma is one of the most highly-rated players to come out of Honduras so when he signed for Celtic there was, and still is, huge media attention on the winger.

The Honduran international has made 33 appearances this season and has scored nine goals and created ten assists so far.

Not only has Palma produced the goods domestically, but on the European scene he has also made his mark.

Two goals in the Champions League put Palma on the map for the Celtic fans but back in his homeland he is widely regarded as a hero already.

Which made this gesture for his old club CDS Vida a nice touch of class.

Palma prays for Vida

Palma left Vida in 2017 to sign for Aris in Greece but it’s clear his former club holds a special place in his heart.

With two relegation dogfight games to play, Palma sent a message of support to his old club and urged the team to fight for each other to avoid dropping into the Honduran second tier.

Palma posted a video message on Vida’s official Facebook page which said, “Hello friends, greetings Luis Palma, I want to send you this video leaving you the greatest success in these two matches that are very difficult but not impossible to win.

“I ask your family to do it, for you, and for the fans who went to the stadium last game.

“Guys, God bless you, have a lot of attitude, you can’t miss giving every ball to the death, running until the last minute and dying for the teammate next to you.”

Affiliated with Atletico Madrid, Vida have last won the Honduran league way back in 1984 with the club generally hovering around the mid-table mark.

However, this season has brought a relegation fight and Palma will be hoping that his message will help inspire his old club to avoid the dreaded drop.
