'Crazy': Star boxer claims his own failed drug tests were orchestrated anti-Trump 'attack'

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 3: Former U.S. President Donald Trump appears in the courtroom with his lawyers for his civil fraud trial at New York State Supreme Court on October 03, 2023 in New York City.

A star boxer who claimed he failed a drug test as part of an orchestrated attack on former President Donald Trump faced public ridicule Thursday.

Ryan Garcia, a professional fighter who once held the World Boxing Council interim lightweight title, faced scorn over a recent tweet linking two failed steroid tests to his recent endorsement of Trump.

"I’m seen with Trump and now I’m positive for steroids," Garcia wrote late Wednesday night. "This is a straight attack."

Garcia then concluded with the word, "Crazy."

His message caught the eye of MSNBC writer Ja'han Jones, who published Thursday a scathing analysis of the professional boxer's take, arguing, "the tone of his denials...are dripping with Trumpian deflection and evasions."

Garcia reportedly tested positive for the performance enhancer ostarine the day of, and the day before, his victorious fight against Devin Haney, according an Voluntary Anti-Doping Association letter reviewed by ESPN.

In the aftermath of the breaking news, Garcia claimed he was the victim of a mass conspiracy, Jones reports.

"Garcia made expletive-laden comments that echoed rhetoric he’s pushed in the past, claiming the report was probably released by 'pedophile' elites he says he's been 'trying to take down,'" Jones writes.

Jones notes Garcia offered a "defense" the writer suggested did more harm than good: “Even if a motherf----- was on steroids, right?" Garcia reportedly wrote, "You still got hit."

Jones reported earlier this week that Trump recently appeared alongside Garcia. He argues the former president has become "hyper-reliant" on such social media influencers as he mounts a second campaign to reclaim the White House.

"Garcia and Trump are clearly a fitting match: Both know how it feels when their declared victories are called into question," Jones wrote. "And both are clearly unashamed to spread salacious conspiracy theories to push back against stories that could damage their already-shaky reputations as winners."

On Thursday, his claim that the drug tests were linked to his pro-Trump stance were met with approval.

"We pray for you Patriot," replied X user Irene Sloate. "May God Bless You and keep you safe and healthy."

"Exactly what I said to my wife," said podcaster Jeremy Ryan Slate. "You support Trump they character assassinate you."
