‘A problem’: Jamie Redknapp says ‘world-class’ Chelsea player needs to improve after watching win vs Tottenham

While Chelsea put on a superb performance against arch-rivals Tottenham last night, it seems pundit Jamie Redknapp was still able to point out a negative or too.

Goals from Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson were enough for a big three points for the Blues, who need every point they can get in the run-in to try and secure European football for next season.

Doing so would likely secure Mauricio Pochettino’s place at the club for another season at least, with him clearly emotional after beating his former side for the second time this campaign.

The achievement would actually be one to praise if it was achieved, with him struggling with an insane amount of injuries this season.

There were 14 first team players missing last night, with one of those being Enzo Fernandez.

The Argentinian is out for the rest of the season after surgery on an ongoing injury concern, dropping out of the side in the process.

Redknapp says Enzo Fernandez needs to improve

Redknapp told Sky Sports though that he believes he is actually a problem for Pochettino right now, and needs to improve.

He said: “Enzo Fernandez to a certain extent is a bit of a problem. When I watch him in this league, he’s a World Cup winner, it seems a bit quick for him. He’s been here 18 months and he needs to improve if he wants to work in the Premier League.”

Moises Caicedo starring in Fernandez’s absence

In the absence of the 23-year-old, the boss has stumbled across a midfield duo of Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher.

While the World Cup winner has been described this season by opponents as ‘world-class’, it is fair to say that the Blues look a lot stronger in the middle of the park without him right now.

That by no means says his career at Stamford Bridge is over though. It was revealed exclusively to the Chelsea Chronicle that at this stage the England international needs to accept he has no future at the club right now.
