‘Started to see glimpses’: Jamie Redknapp says he was finally impressed by ‘amazing’ Chelsea man vs Tottenham

Jamie Redknapp was left very impressed with what he saw from Chelsea in their 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge last night.

The Blues beat arch-rivals Tottenham in a huge game at home, with the prospect of qualifying for Europe next season still very much alive.

Mauricio Pochettino is well aware that finishing in these places in the league could be crucial in him keeping his job, despite being universally liked by the players in West London.

The boss is dealing with an unfathomable amount of injuries right now, missing as many as 14 first team players.

One of those absentees wasEnzo Fernandez, leaving the Blues very limited for options in the middle of the park.

It has to be said though that one of those, Moises Caicedo, has come into his own and been arguably the best player Chelsea have.

Redknapp finally impressed with Moises Caicedo

It seems others are noticing his quality now too, with Redknapp claiming to Sky Sports after the game that he is finally seeing the player many hyped up before he moved to West London.

He said: “I look at Moises Caicedo who early in the season was really poor, so off it and I was thinking where is that player I saw at Brighton but today I started to see glimpses of the Moises Caicedo that we were speaking about so highly at Brighton.”

There was obviously a reason why the Blues spent the club-record fee they did on the 22-year-old, and there have been signs of that this season.

He was described as ‘amazing’ by former Chelsea man Claude Makelele, although it was noted that improvement was needed to help the Blues challenge properly in the top echelons of the table.

Now though, the Blues are seeing the player they hope to, and the pairing of him and Conor Gallagher is one that although stumbled upon, is proving to be one of the top ones in the Premier League right now.
