‘Gone off the boil’: Paul Merson shares score prediction for Man City vs Wolves

Paul Merson has shared his score prediction for Manchester City’s next Premier League match against Wolves.

Having beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 away from home in their previous league outing, the Blues are back on home turf this weekend with a showdown against Wolves, who beat City at Molineux earlier in the season.

Looking ahead to this game, which the Citizens will be looking to win and take a step closer to potentially winning the Premier League title, one pundit has shared his prediction for the scoreline in Saturday’s clash at the Etihad Stadium.

In his latest column for Sportskeeda where he predicted the scores for all of this weekend’s Premier League games, Merson had this to say about City’s match against the Old Gold.

He said: “I can’t see anything but a Man City win.

“Wolves have gone off the boil in recent weeks, but they’ve been severely tapered by injuries this season.

“As for the Citizens, they will look to win all their games and regain their domestic crown, but will Erling Haaland come straight into the starting XI after recovering from his injury? 3-0.”

City need to win against Wolves

Even though the Midlands club beat City 2-1 back in September, Gary O’Neil’s side have only won two of their nine previous league games, drawing two and losing five.

This backs up Merson’s point about Wolves not being in the best form as they head into this weekend’s match against Pep Guardiola’s side.

As Merson also mentioned, the Citizens could also have Haaland back in the starting XI after he came on as a second-half substitute during the 2-0 win over Forest and scored City’s second goal of the game.

With the Norwegian on the hunt for another Premier League title and another Golden Boot, this also makes it easy to see why Merson thinks the Blues, who haven’t lost a league game at home this season, will secure a victory this time around.
