Liverpool star Harvey Elliott’s life outside of football from hair to net worth

Harvey Elliott is one of the young talents in the Liverpool first-team squad, so here is everything that you need to know about the England youth international midfielder.

The playmaker may already seem like a veteran professional having been on the scene for a number of years. But Elliott is still a young talent, having broken through with Fulham for his senior debut at only 15 years and 174 days old back in September 2018 in an EFL Cup game.

Slavisa Jokanovic handed Elliott his first-team debut when the Cottagers won 3-1 at Millwall in a third-round tie. It also made Elliott the youngest player to appear in English football. He set the Premier League record in May 2019 but lost it to Ethan Nwaneri in September 2022.

Elliott also set another record when he joined Liverpool from Fulham in July 2019. The Reds took advantage of the midfielder’s contract expiring at Craven Cottage to sign a prospect on the radars of European rivals FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool still owed Fulham compensation for his development after moving teams as a 16-year-old. So, the Professional Football Compensation Committee demanded Liverpool paid Fulham a record £1.5m fee, plus £3m in add-ons and a 20% sell-on clause, in February 2021.

Elliott was established on the fringes of the Liverpool first-team squad when the PFCC ruled on Fulham’s compensation. He had also featured three times with the Cottagers’ senior side before moving to Merseyside. Elliott got his Liverpool debut at MK Dons in September 2019.

Harvey Elliott is renowned for his hair, having hit the football pitch adorned with a man bun since his teen years at Fulham. His hair also got Elliott in trouble while he attended Coombe Boys’ School in New Malden, south-west London at 15 years old after keeping it up in a bun.

Yet despite his trademark look, Elliott promised the Liverpool first-team squad that he would cut his hair after scoring the midfielder’s first senior goal for the Reds. He also admitted that Jurgen Klopp was not a fan of the bun. Elliott has since sought a few different hairstyles, too.

“Whenever I tried to put it up at school, I got told off by the teachers. I couldn’t fight against the rules,” Elliott told The Athletic in August 2020. “It’s not a popular haircut. Some people think, ‘Why’s he got it like that?’ but I like it.

“I don’t think Jurgen’s a big fan. Sometimes I’ve come in with it tied up in a bit of a new style and he has just looked at it and started laughing. I’ve promised the lads that when I score my first professional goal, it’s coming off.

“Initially, I was going to change it for the New Year. But then I decided that if I was going to change it, I wanted it to be for something more memorable.”

Elliott scored his first Liverpool goal in February 2022 when the Reds beat Cardiff City 3-1 in an FA Cup fourth-round tie. Klopp introduced the midfielder as a substitute for Naby Keita in the 58th minute. Elliott went on to score the Anfield natives’ third goal in the 76th minute.
