'Managers always want him on the pitch': Paul Merson says £220k-a-week Arsenal player is such a manager's dream

Arsenal will be looking to extend the gap between themselves and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table in their early kick-off on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners will be hosting Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium in the day’s 12:30pm kick-off.

With City not playing until 5:30pm, Arsenal have the opportunity to go four points clear before Pep Guardiola’s charges have kicked a ball.

The Gunners have done well to bounce back after their shock home loss to Aston Villa threatened to derail their title hopes.

Arsenal have won their last three in a row, beating Wolves away, hammering Chelsea at the Emirates and getting over the line at Tottenham.

Kai Havertz played a big part in the Gunners’ return to form, scoring twice against the Blues and netting his side’s third against Spurs.

Now, Arsenal legend Paul Merson has singled Havertz out for praise in his latest prediction article on Sportskeeda.

What has Paul Merson said about Arsenal forward Kai Havertz?

Merson wrote: “Kai Havertz’s signing was heavily criticized at the start of the season, but he’s shown his class during the title run-in and is a proper big-game player.

“I was always a fan of him, he’s such a clever player who suits the way Arsenal play. Germany use him as a left-back at times which just goes to show that managers always want him on the pitch.”

Once again, a decision by Mikel Arteta has been vindicated. Havertz joined for big money at the start of the season and he struggled for the first few months.

However, things eventually clicked, and now the £220,000-a-week ace is showing the quality and goal return that made him so highly sought after at Bayer Leverkusen.

Hopefully Havertz can keep up the good work in Arsenal’s meeting with Bournemouth and keep pushing towards the title whilst continuing to keep the pressure on City.
