‘Has everything’: Jack Grealish says Man City teammate is actually the hardest he’s ever played against

Jack Grealish says one of his Manchester City teammates is the toughest player he’s ever come up against.

Having racked up almost 200 combined appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, the winger has come up against a significant number of top-level players.

Now though, the Englishman has named the one player he has found it particularly difficult to face off against.

Speaking in a recent video shared on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel, Grealish had this to say when asked who his toughest opponent has been throughout his career.

He said: “Like defensively, Kyle Walker.

“When I was at Aston Villa, obviously he was at City, I played against him all the time. Just because he is so fast really, like he is so strong, but, above all, he is a great defender. Do you know what I mean?

“I see people say, ‘If he weren’t fast?’ I’m, like, you can’t say that because then you might as well get any random fast person and put him in defence. That doesn’t mean he is a good defender.

“Kyle has everything, He is strong, he is fast, top defender as well.”

Grealish isn’t the only player Kyle Walker has been a nuisance for

Prior to his £100m, move to City back in the 2021 summer transfer window, Grealish had faced off against Walker on three occasions, with his Aston Villa side losing all three games to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 28-year-old isn’t the only player to have had a hard time trying to get the best of the right-back as Thierry Henry praised the way Walker was able to handle Vinicius Junior during last season’s Champions League semi-final second-leg tie between City and Real Madrid.

Grealish also isn’t the only person at City who has shared his admiration for the qualities Walker is able to offer his side, as Pep Guardiola said this about him last summer.

He said: “I would say first of all [as] a footballer, [he] has a genetic [quality that] is incomparable, physicalities, something unique.”

With all of that in mind, it comes as no surprise that Grealish, who has to play against the 33-year-old in training, has named the City full-back as the hardest opponent he’s ever come up against on the pitch.
