‘He will lose his job’: Jamie Carragher says Ange Postecoglou will be sacked if he doesn’t fix one thing

Ange Postecoglou’s stock at Tottenham is falling at a rapid rate.

The Australian was an almost deity-level figure at Spurs after his incredible start to life at Tottenham earlier this season, but now, the wheels are coming off.

Spurs keep shipping goals, their form in 2024 has been terrible and they need to change things.

Indeed, Ange Postecoglou’s style has gone from looking revolutionary to looking naïve, and there are now some serious questions being asked.

Speaking on the An Echo of Glory Podcast, Jamie Carragher has been discussing Postecoglou’s style, and he says that the Australian needs to tighten things up defensively, otherwise, he will eventually lose his job.

Ange Postecoglou needs to fix Tottenham defensively

Carragher spoke about what Postecoglou needs to change at Spurs.

“I don’t think there’s any right or wrong, in the past when we’ve said a manager has to change we’ve made it black and white. I think if you ask Ange, Pep or Klopp they would say they don’t play the same every week. The days of a manger playing one way one week and playing another way the next week have gone,” Carragher said.

“I think people stick to their principles more now and there’s tweaks within it, and there does need to be tweaks, definitely, you can’t keep doing the same thing and conceding goals. Tottenham need to find a way next season to be tighter defensively otherwise Ange-ball, whatever you want to call it, it’s not going to work and eventually he will lose his job, that’s just a fact,” Carragher said.

Tottenham have big problems

Carragher is spot on here.

Postecoglou has plenty of credit in the bank due to how well he started, but if this type of form continues into next season, it may not be long before his job is under question.

Spurs’ form in 2024 has been dreadful, as has their defensive record, and things simply can’t go on like this.

Postecoglou probably isn’t under pressure at the moment, but it may not be long before he’s feeling the heat if this continues.
