Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, sounded the alarm in an interview Sunday with 60 Minutes, warning voters that if they put Donald Trump back in the White House and elect Republicans, abortion rights won’t be the only freedoms that could be eliminated.

The Supreme Court’s decision in 2022 to overturn Roe v. Wade, which guaranteed the constitutional right to an abortion, has resulted in sweeping restrictions to abortion access in many states.

But as red-state legislatures have taken the ruling and evoked even more draconian laws, the issue has carried Democrats to victories in federal and statewide elections in the ensuing two years.
