Woman struck by NJ Transit train in Morris County

A woman was taken to a hospital after she was hit by a train and suffered a “severe” leg injury Saturday night, officials confirmed.

Authorities responded at about 7:23 p.m. on a report of a woman who was struck and on a train platform in Morristown, an NJ Transit spokesperson told NJ Advance Media on Saturday night.

The woman, who was not identified further, was taken to the hospital. The extent of her injuries were not immediately available Saturday night.

The Morris & Essex Line train 6936, which left Dover at about 7:05 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at New York Penn Station at 8:40 p.m., was canceled in Morristown as a result of the incident.

Riders were accommodated on another train, authorities said.

“No injuries were reported to customers or the crew on board,” an NJ Transit spokesperson said in a statement.

State officials said the New Jersey Transit Police Department is leading the investigation.
