Pathetic West Ham players go for a stroll as Moyes question answered

Pathetic West Ham players went for a leisurely stroll at Stamford Bridge as a big David Moyes question was answered.

Going into West Ham’s game at Chelsea much of the talk had focused on the future of David Moyes.

The Hammers hierarchy have reportedly whittled their shortlist down to two men, Ruben Amorim and Julen Lopetegui.

But given Moyes and the club continue to insist no decision will be made on the manager’s future until the end of the season, then one has to assume the Scot has a horse in the race too.

Indeed thousands of Hammers fans have made it clear they would prefer to keep Moyes over appointing Lopetegui.

There was a suggestion that a highly unlikely three wins from the last three games – and potential European qualification – might see Moyes handed a new deal.

But West Ham’s pathetic players went for a stroll at Stamford Bridge as the big Moyes question answered.

Yet another meek West Ham surrender

Any idea that Moyes could stay on at West Ham has surely been put to bed but yet another woeful performance at Chelsea.

The Hammers found themselves 3-0 down after 35 minutes with players quite literally walking around and going through the motions. It could and should have been 5-0 by half-time.

Jarrod Bowen aside, if West Ham’s players wanted to save Moyes’ job they had a funny way of showing it.

There was zero leadership from “captain” Kurt Zouma.

Lucas Paqueta has been going through the motions for weeks. But he took liberties at Stamford Bridge.

The Hammers made Conor Gallagher look like a prime Roy Keane. To a man – bar Bowen – they were a shambles.

Pathetic West Ham players go for a stroll at Stamford Bridge

West Ham’s fans made it feel like a home game at the start of the match.

But their reward was yet another meek surrender from their players, who cannot use fatigue as an excuse after having a full eight days to prepare compared to Chelsea’s 66 hours.

It continues a theme this season of brutal hammerings for West Ham. Supporters are willing to accept Moyes’ risk averse style when it is getting results.

But West Ham are one of the worst teams to watch in the league. And now they have conceded more goals than every other top flight side outside the bottom three.

Going into this game West Ham still had faint hopes of European qualification.

You wouldn’t have known it from yet another yellow-bellied surrender.

Moyes stay? Do West Ham want a relegation battle next season?

Keep Moyes if you dare

The three teams who are coming up all play a style far more progressive and evolved than Moyes’.

There’s a reason most West Ham fans are fed up with the Scot’s approach.

It has all come home to roost in the second half of this season.

West Ham are a busted flush under the Scot. His tactics don’t belong at the top level anymore.

But he deserved a better send off from his players than they have given him of late.

We’ve all been on a wonderful journey with Moyes over the last few years.

However, there is so much wrong with this brittle, shallow West Ham squad it is frightening.

Any doubts Moyes will leave were put to bed at Stamford Bridge.
