ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - A 70-year-old Zephyrhills man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday around 12:21 am.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on SR-54 when, just west of Allen Road, a pedestrian, a 70-year-old Zephyrhills man, attempting to walk across SR-54, entered the path of and was struck by the vehicle.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The unknown driver initially stopped at the crash scene and then fled eastbound on SR-54.
A witness later described the suspect vehicle as a silver Nissan sports sedan.
