'Doing the business': Chris Wood and Joe Worrall wowed by Nottingham Forest star

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates has finally scored a goal in the Premier League.

The Reds captain has waited some time for the moment but he got off the mark against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Yates has divided opinion at theCity Ground but nobody can knock his commitment to the cause.

The 26-year-old lashed home from close range following a Morgan Gibbs-White free-kick to put Forest in the lead on Saturday.

Forest won the game 3-1 at Bramall Lane and had to come from behind to claim the big three points.

Yates will now go in search of more Premier League goals for Forest and he’s received praise from Joe Worrall and Chris Wood.

Two Nottingham Forest players react to Ryan Yates goal

Well, this was clearly a moment that Yates enjoyed and it would appear that his teammates are happy for him too.

After the Reds had claimed a big three points, Worrall and Wood reacted on social media.

Wood said on Instagram: “What an achievement! Skip doing the business.”

This was giving a nod to the fact that Yates has now scored in the top five divisions in England and also the FA Cup and League Cup.

Worrall is big friends with Yates and the Forest-owned player currently on loan with Besiktas took to X.

He said: “Big game player. Ryan Yates never lets you down.”

First goal is a nice milestone but Yates must strive for consistency

This has always been the big issue with Yates during his 201 appearances for Forest.

The player always gives his all but as a Premier League club, the bare minimum has to be matched with football ability.

Yates can play a part in the squad at Forest and clearly, he’s rated highly by the players he plays alongside.

Forest will hope to kick on in the Premier League if relegation is averted this season and next season could be a big one for Yates.

Players will come and go at the City Ground and Yates will have to maintain an upward trajectory.

With Ibrahim Sangare, Nicolas Dominguez and Danilo all under contract next season, it’s imperative that Yates consistently brings something to the table.
