'I think': Jeremie Frimpong now shares who he thinks is better - Sergio Aguero or Robin van Persie

Jeremie Frimpong has now revealed which out of the two former strikers was better: Sergio Aguero or Robin van Persie.

One would assume that Frimpong would name Van Persie due to being a Dutch player.

But then having been at Manchester City’s academy, the Bayer Leverkusen defender has a link with the club and as a result, he may hold Sergio Aguero in high regard.

At one point, Aguero and Van Persie were the two best strikers in the Premier League.

It was difficult to separate the pair, as both were extremely skilful marksmen and most importantly, their finishing was world-class.

Both Sergio Aguero and Robin van Persie had the ability to score a wide array of goals.

Frimpong shares who’s better: Aguero or Van Persie

In the Premier League, the Manchester City legend has a far superior goal record to the retired Dutchman.

Aguero has scored 184 goals in 275 league appearances.

Van Persie, on the other hand, has scored 144 goals in 280 league appearances for Arsenal and Manchester United.

In terms of the trophies they won for their respective clubs as well, Sergio Aguero won five Premier League titles in comparison to Robin van Persie’s one in 2013.

Aguero also won six Carabao Cup titles and an FA Cup while Van Persie only won the FA Cup once and did not lift the League Cup even once.

At Atletico Madrid as well, Sergio Aguero won the Europa League and was one of Europe’s most feared strikers.

The same perhaps cannot be said about Van Persie at Feyenoord, despite him showing his remarkable talent at the club.

However, Jeremie Frimpong sided with Robin van Persie over Sergio Aguero in a video with GOAL’s Front Three [via TikTok].

“Shooting?”, he asked.

“Van Persie”, he replied.

“Dribbling?”

“Aguero.”

“Passing?”

“Van Persie.”

“Football IQ?”

“Van Persie”, he said.

“Strength?”

“Aguero.”

“Leadership?”

“Van Persie.”

“Clutch moments?”

“I think you have to give this one to Aguero. Etihad, at the last minute [against QPR in 2012].”

Frimpong continued, “Bro, I was ball boy.”

“I ran on the pitch.”

“Legacy?”

“Van Persie.”

“Who would you rather play with?”

“Van Persie.”

Sergio Aguero was a better striker than Robin van Persie

Jeremie Frimpong is entitled to his opinion but Sergio Aguero was certainly the better striker than Robin van Persie.

Simply put, Aguero was far more of a devastating threat for a longer stretch than Van Persie.

The former Barcelona striker was one of the best goalscorers in the league and the world from 2011 when he joined City up to 2021.

Van Persie, on the other hand, was a victim of injury woes and rotation in the early years of his career.

While in his second season at United, he was a shadow of his former self.

Robin van Persie was an exceptional player but only from the 2009/2010 season to the 2012/2013 campaign.

The same cannot be said about Aguero, whose goal-to-game ratio in comparison to Van Persie’s emphasizes how dominant he was; having scored 40 more league goals than him while playing five fewer games.

Comparing both players’ trophy cabinets too, the ex-Independiente man has the edge, to say the least.

But perhaps Jeremie Frimpong may have considered Robin van Persie an idol growing up due to hailing from the same country instead of Sergio Aguero.
