‘World class’: Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe praise former Everton player after historic award yesterday

It has been a rather quiet past week on the pitch for Everton, who have finally been blessed with a pressure-free end to the season at last.

And they have certainly earned that easy conclusion too, having come back from two deductions accumulating to eight points to achieve safety with three Premier League games to go.

However, off the pitch, things have arguably never been so restless, with their messy takeover situation really kicking into full throttle.

777 Partners continue to fail in their attempts to assume control at the club, and despite alternative bidders being touted, progress has been limited.

Fortunately, at least one former Everton player has made fans smile with what he did very recently.

Pundits both agree over ‘world-class’ thing Tim Howard did

Speaking on their podcast, The 2 Robbies, the two were unsurprisingly in unanimous agreement over what Tim Howard did just yesterday.

After all, it would have been hard for them not to comment on what their friend and regular co-pundit achieved, having been inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

However, and perhaps the video that has garnered even more acclaim than his actual award, is his speech in which he lauds Everton and David Moyes for giving him everything.

‘Our great friend,’ Robbie Mustoe began, allowing Robbie Earle to take the reins: ‘It would be remiss of us not to mention our great friend Tim Howard was inducted into the 2024 US National Hall of Fame.

‘We saw some great pictures, if you get the chance go on YouTube or Peacock and watch Tim being inducted and, I’ve got to tell you, world-class speech, where he talked about his life growing up, his parents, his influences, his coaches, his wife, his partner now, his children. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer, more honest, transparent man.’

Mustoe then offered another opinion on a stunning playing career too: ‘And had a brilliant career. To be that good for so long at a club like Everton.’

Is Tim Howard an Everton legend?

Whilst it is hard to objectively claim whether someone is a legend of a football club, there are factors that undeniably contribute to such a subjective status.

For most, the former USA international is likely regarded as one of the club’s best keepers in recent memory who served his purpose well for ten solid years.

However, he departed after 414 appearances without a trophy to his name, and for some that might be a dealbreaker.

Regardless, he made some truly iconic stops for the Toffees, with the outstanding one being his effort to claw out of Graziano Pellè’s headed effort back in 2015.

His good moments far outweigh the bad during his spell with Everton, and he does tick plenty of boxes to be considered a legend.

But in the end, this is a topic that everyone will have their own subjective views on.
