TV producer slammed for calling reality star 'violently angry' after cheating scandal

Vanderpump Rules is on pause, leaving Bravo fans in fear the show has been cancelled altogether. Fear not, as it’s just a temporary gap in filming, allowing the cast members to “see how things develop”.

Andy Cohen has finally explained why there’s a pause in filming one of Bravo’s shows, comparing it to when they’d take a gap for The Real Housewives franchise. Vanderpump Rules has given the cast a break.

Vanderpump Rules on pause

Vanderpump Rules filming has been placed on pause. Some automatically assumed it was because they film from June to September, and Ariana Madix will be in Fiji filming Love Island from July to August.

Season 12 is temporarily taking a break so the cast can live their lives following Scandoval, which involved the discovery of Tom Sandoval having an affair with Rachel Leviss, while in a relationship with Ariana.

Cameras were picked up just three months after Ariana found out, but now the cast get a break to see how their lives play out over summer. Vanderpump Rules has not been cancelled altogether.

Andy Cohen explains show pause

Andy Cohen isn’t the producer of Vanderpump Rules, but he has been able to explain why Bravo shows take a break, as he done the same for The Real Housewives franchise.

He said on SiriusXM, “Yeah, we used to do this all the time with the Housewives. We would say, ‘You know what? Let’s put cameras down for, you know, four or five months and come back to them’.”

“They will have lived life. Things will be different. I think that, you know, I was talking to Ariana about this on the after show last night. I was saying, people do forget, especially as it relates to Ariana,” he added.

Andy described Ariana as “the one cheated on,” continuing: “People forget we picked up cameras a few, three months after she found out about that affair, so that’s why she’s still in the violently angry stage.”

Backlash for ‘violently angry’ phrase

Vanderpump Rules fans are not happy over Andy’s use of the phrase “violently angry,” especially after she spoke to Brock Davies about women being mad, while she felt men being angry is more accepted.

One viewer said, ““Violently angry” stage, no just angry Andy. People didn’t appreciate Tom being portrayed as a victim. Andy was wrong about Lala, it was her worst season.”

Another said, “Gonna need @andy to tell us where the violently angry Ariana scene is,” while a confused fellow fan simply asked, “violently angry??? where?”
