'It's incredibly dangerous for TV shows to only cast people who bring drama' - Opinion

Sam is not on Summer House season 8, which has divided long-time Bravo fans. She’s not the only cast member who wasn’t deemed worthy enough to be brought back without relationship drama.

Bravo franchises like The Real Housewives are always getting rid of cast members and hiring newbies. Summer House is no different, as the girl who brought energy – Samantha Feher – wasn’t brought back.

Sam not being on Summer House

Samantha Feher, known as Sam, was not invited back for Summer House season 8. She got into a relationship with Kory Keefer last season, which fans believe is the reason she didn’t return.

The former couple have since split, and she’s left the world of reality TV to focus on her entrepreneurial success after just one season. Despite that, Sam is the richest former cast member!

She confirmed she is not returning to the Bravo show, as well as her ex-boyfriend, Kory. The founder of the Feher Agency has been embracing the fact that she is having “a fresh start” this year!

‘Single girl drama’ is all they wanted

While fans are divided over whether Sam was well-received as a season 7 cast member, she was originally hired as a single girl. Many feel producers wanted her to bring “single girl drama” that season.

So when Sam got into a full-on relationship with Kory, while there are already two stable couples in the house like Kyle and Amanda, and Lindsay and Craig, she didn’t quite fit the bill.

One fan wrote, “I think honestly being paired off hurt Sam in the casting. They liked single girl drama, they already had two “stable” couples. But they don’t need another long distance romance couple.”

Why it’s dangerous to only cast drama

Drama is fun on reality shows. After all, they are there to entertain us. However, it gets incredibly dangerous to eliminate anyone without drama from a series, because they are simply human.

Those watching these series learn that, without being dramatic, we are considered too ‘boring’ to be around and feel they have to overcompensate who they really are to be liked.

As a reality TV expert of many years, I feel it’s important to have a balance: bring the drama, but also consider the quiet, eccentric, hilarious, and relatable cast members, because we are all special!
