Report: Championship side now ask Tottenham if they can sign their 'excellent' youngster for 24/25 season

After Ange Postecoglou admitted the need for change at Tottenham, fans are expecting a busy summer of incomings and outgoings at the club.

Postecoglou was fuming after his side lost at Chelsea and before losing again against Liverpool yesterday, conceded he must be allowed to make changes.

In an ideal world for Spurs fans, that means a number of new signings being brought in over the summer.

However, to bring those players in, others must also leave the club, both on permanent and loan deals.

And according to a report from Plymouth Live, Championship side Plymouth have already asked about taking one of Tottenham’s top youngsters next season.

Plymouth want to sign Ashley Phillips from Tottenham again

According to the report from Plymouth Live, the Championship side have already been in touch with Spurs over a deal to bring Phillips back to the club.

Along with fellow youngster Alfie Devine, Plymouth are thought to be keen to explore early doors if Phillips and Devine are available again.

For Phillips, who was in and around the Tottenham first-team earlier in the season, another loan spell could well make sense given the players ahead of him.

Tottenham have Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin all above him the pecking order, while Tosin Adarabioyo is also being considered as a signing.

Ange Postecoglou, then, has a big call to make when it comes to Phillips. The Spurs boss is thought to enjoy a smooth working relationship with the teenager, with both parties happy to work together.

Multiple clubs interested in Ashley Phillips

While Plymouth want to bring the ‘excellent‘ Phillips back to Home Park, there are other teams keen which could be an issue.

Reports have suggested recently relegated Sheffield United are also keen on the young defender, having looked at him before he left Blackburn for Tottenham.

As well as the Blades, other Championship sides are believed to have watched Phillips in action for Plymouth as well.

For Phillips and Tottenham, they may well see his development best served in a team higher up the table.

And unfortunately for Plymouth, that means they might miss out if the likes of Sheffield United and more come knocking.
