Report: ‘Exceptional’ Chelsea player who didn’t play against West Ham now in contention to start next game

Reports have claimed that Chelsea could be about to add one more returning star to their squad for the next Premier League game.

Mauricio Pochettino was able to welcome a number of injured stars back to his ranks for the London derby against West Ham United, and the feel good factor spread across the 90 minutes.

Chelsea won 5-0 against their rivals, with Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson playing a starring role in attack.

Perhaps the most positive moments for some supporters at Stamford Bridge though was seeing some players who had been out for a prolonged period of time make their returns to the first team.

Both Malo Gusto and Christopher Nkunku were brought on off the bench to make cameo appearances that suggested their availability may bolster Pochettino’s options for the final three games of the season.

Levi Colwill in contention for next Chelsea game

One player who was on the bench but unused yesterday was Levi Colwill, who has been out for a large period of 2024 with a Toe injury.

While he wasn’t risked yesterday, it has now been reported by the Evening Standard that he is in contention to feature for the next game against Nottingham Forest.

Hudson-Odoi on fire for Nottingham Forest

The Blues’ opponents next Saturday will be hungry to help secure their place in the Premier League for next season, and are no doubt buoyed by the fact that former Chelsea man Callum Hudson-Odoi is firing on all cylinders.

Depending on results around them, there is a serious chance that Chelsea can secure a Europa League place for next season, which has to be said feels like an achievement based on where they found themselves earlier this season.

It has also been claimed that it could be a necessity for Pochettino to keep his job, with Europa League reportedly being demanded by the owners as a result of this season.
