Manager would welcome Ange Postecoglou call, but not if Tottenham want his teenage striker

Tottenham Hotspur need signings this summer but Ange Postecoglou and co are likely to continue targeting young players like Thomas Waddingham this summer.

Ange Postecoglou has hit his trickiest period as Tottenham Hotspur boss.

The Australian guided Tottenham out of a tough spot earlier this season as injuries and suspensions ravaged Spurs in November.

Tottenham are now on a four-game losing run, conceding 13 goals along the way.

The top four is now drifting away for Tottenham and Postecoglou will be keen to halt the slide before the season ends.

Postecoglou has now admitted that he will need to shift players out of Tottenham in order to take the club forward.

The Tottenham boss may want some instant-impact signings but Spurs have focused on signings with big potential.

Thomas Waddingham boss on Tottenham Hotspur

There has been a keen focus on young signings at Tottenham in recent times.

Destiny Udogie, Radu Dragusin, Micky van de Ven and Brennan Johnson all have significant potential and should have their best years ahead of them at Tottenham.

Spurs even have a summer signing already secured with teenager Lucas Bergvall coming in from Djurgarden.

Tottenham may continue to go down that path under Postecoglou and Johan Lange this summer and another name has been mentioned.

Postecoglou is bound to have one eye on talents back in his native Australia and Brisbane Roar talent Thomas Waddingham is turning heads.

The 19-year-old striker has hit seven goals in just 23 A-League games and the prospect of him joining forces with Postecoglou has been raised.

Brisbane Roar boss Ruben Zadkovich has even told The North West Star in Australia that he would love to hear from Postecoglou – but hopefully not to sign Waddingham.

“If Ange rang us and said he wants Tommy Waddingham? It would be nice to hear from Ange, but I don’t think it works like that,” said Zadkovich. “He is generating interest from some big teams and it is warranted. We know we have a fantastic young man and fantastic young player on our hands but we have to be strategic with Tommy.”

“My focus as a coach is to develop the player and that is what I have been working on the last few months. It is nice to see him take on that information and grow,” he added.

Tottenham mentioned by official A-League account

Postecoglou is a former Brisbane Roar boss himself, so Waddingham may well have popped onto his radar.

The official A-League Instagram account has even chipped in, stating that it’s ‘no wonder’ Postecoglou allegedly fancies brining Waddingham to North London.

They added that Waddingham is ‘one to watch’, believing that he seemingly has a bright future ahead of him.

Tottenham will surely be in the market for another striker this summer amid speculation surrounding the future of Richarlison.

Waddingham would be one for the future and asking him to step right into Premier League action would be a bold move.

Postecoglou and co may see big potential though and we would make Waddingham a name to keep tabs on as Tottenham continue to scour the globe for top prospects.
