‘Superstar’: Jamie Carragher says he absolutely loves watching £60m player who Tottenham want to sign

Jamie Carragher has lauded a player who’s been heavily linked with a summer switch to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Ange Postecoglou faces an interesting summer ahead at Tottenham after a disappointing end to the season.

The Aussie has suffered four consecutive defeats in the Premier League, which will likely resign Spurs to Europa League football next season.

Tottenham’s run of form has certainly highlighted the need for a busy summer window, with Postecoglou himself admitting Spurs ‘need change’.

And one player who would certainly tick plenty of boxes for the Lilywhites is Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

Carragher praises Tottenham target Eberechi Eze

Eze starred for Palace last night as Oliver Glasner’s men thrashed Manchester United 4-0 at Selhurst Park.

The 25-year-old didn’t register an assist or goal but caused United plenty of problems in an advanced midfield role, completing seven dribbles and two key passes on the night (Sofascore).

His display led to Carragher lauding Eze and Michael Olise as ‘superstars’ on Sky Sports, claiming the duo could play for any side in the Premier League.

“I think they could almost play for anyone in this league, I really do,” the Liverpool legend said. “There‘s talk of Manchester United, Olise being their top target for the summer and you could understand why.

“I was actually thinking then in terms of Crystal Palace, they always used to go to Wilfried Zaha and he was always spoken about, the results when he was missing and he was fantastic for Crystal Palace. Maybe the best player they’ve had in the Premier League era.

“I actually think these two are better. Maybe haven’t had the longevity of Zaha at Palace and that is the next key question. Will he have that longevity?”

“These two are two superstars and I hope they both stay,” Carragher added. “I do. I love watching them play.”

Tottenham keen on Eze move

Spurs are in desperate need of reinforcements this summer and the lack of a suitable alternative to James Maddison has been highlighted of late.

Eze would provide that while also being able to operate off the left-hand side, which is another problem position for Tottenham.

The £60 million Palace star reportedly had his own box at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during his side’s defeat in north London in early March.

While Spurs are keen, Premier League champions Manchester City have also expressed an interest in Eze.

Palace face a battle to keep hold of their star men this summer, particularly Eze and Olise. For Tottenham, a move for Eze feels like a no-brainer given their current issues in midfield and out wide.

The talented playmaker would provide real quality in both areas and has enjoyed another promising campaign at Selhurst Park, having a hand in 13 goals in 29 games.
