‘Can’t write him off’: Pundit says Man City have someone who you shouldn't underestimate

Don Hutchison has said that one Manchester City player should not be underestimated.

The Citizens have just four games left to play before the 2023/24 season comes to an end, which could see the Manchester club win a fourth Premier League title in a row and add another FA Cup to their cabinet.

After seeing City convincingly beat Wolves 5-1 in their previous game, one pundit has highlighted a specific member of Pep Guardiola’s squad and shared how farcical it is to doubt him.

Speaking in a recent edition of The Weekend Wrap by Premier League Productions (via Optus Sport), Hutchison has this to say about Erling Haaland and his four goals against Wolves on Saturday.

He said: “You can’t write him off. He got written off about five months ago and what did he score four against Luton?

“He’s just a goal machine, feed him and he scores, he just needs service.”

In his debut season with the Citizens, the striker scored 52 goals in 53 games across all competitions, breaking many records and helping his side win the Treble.

This season has seen the 23-year-old find the back of the net 36 times in 41 appearances across all competitions, with 25 of those goals coming in the 28 Premier League games he’s featured in.

Across those 28 league games, the Norwegian has had more shots on target (49) than any other player in the division.

Haaland’s overall performances have earned him a strong season rating of 7.44/10 from WhoScored, making him the seventh-highest-rated player in the league.

Erling Haaland is a key player for Man City

Even though the Treble-winner found himself being criticised for his general play earlier in the season, it’s clear that his goalscoring ability eclipses any issues he may have in other areas of his game.

Moving forward, with two more titles now on the line for the Blues, if Haaland can keep scoring goals and help his side win their remaining games of the season, this should silence any critics that question his usefulness for City.
