I finally tried Charlotte Tilbury's Beauty Wands, and they do live up to the hype

When a product goes mega-viral, I refuse to buy it. I just don’t trust it and prefer to wait and see if the product stands the test of time before I splurge. Often, I don’t end up purchasing at all, but in some cases, I finally give in. That’s what happened with Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Wands.

The revolutionary makeup products were realised all the way back in 2017, but they didn’t reach superstardom until years later after taking over TikTok. I decided to order three different wands this week, and I hate to say it – but they really do live up to the hype.

The range consists of a variety of liquid products that create a flawless base, including contours, blushes and highlighters in a range of shades. They all come in the same packaging, a squeezy tube with a sponge applicator on the end.

The Hollywood Contour Wand is described as the “perfect lightweight, blendable, buildable formula to create a well-contoured face” and “get gorgeous sculpted mega-watt cheekbones instantly” when applied to the hollows of the cheeks.

Then, there are the Beauty Light Wands which come in a variety of pink, peach, silver and gold shades that are supposed to be used as either a blush or highlight, adding a touch of color and shine to the cheekbones.

“My Beauty Light Wands are my red carpet diva lights that play with the light and illuminate the look of your complexion with the Hollywood effect,” the website says.

I tried the viral makeup products

After much deliberation, I ordered the Hollywood Contour Wand in Medium-Dark and two Beauty Light Wands in Pinkgasm and Spotlight.

The products are all really easy to use. You unlock the lid, squeeze out the liquid and dab it onto your face before blending out using a beauty blender, brush or even just your fingers.

I dabbed two dots of the contour onto my cheekbones, a little on my forehead and some onto my jawline and was pleasantly surprised by how easily it blended out. The product feels so light on your face which is brilliant, as I hate that heavy makeup feeling.

As someone with fair skin, the medium-dark shade was perfect. It looks really dark at first, but blends out quite faint. So, someone with darker skin may struggle to find a shade dark enough.

After that, I did the same with the blush and highlighter, adding a little highlight onto the end of my nose and browbone too. Again, they all blended out really beautifully, resulting in a quick and easy three-step makeup routine with no faff at all.

The Beauty Light Wand shades are a lot more versatile, with pink, gold and silver shades that work beautifully on any skin tone.

After you’re done, you can close the little slider to stop the product escaping into the sponge in your makeup bag which is a nice added touch, meaning the wands last longer and the product doesn’t dry out.

They do live up to the hype

Now I’ve tried them, I can really see why people love the Beauty Wands so much. For me, it’s the concept that really sells it. I don’t love doing my makeup and prefer to use as few products as possible to get a flawless look – and the Charlotte Tilbury wands are perfect for that.

These three wands form the bulk of your makeup routine, and all I added in was a foundation, concealer, brow product, lip oil and a bit of powder to set everything in place. They’re small, so don’t take up much room in your makeup bag, and make the whole process so simple.

I’ve seen some moaning that there’s not enough product in the tubes to justify the price. At $42 in the US and £30 in the UK, they certainly are premium. I only wear makeup once or twice a week so that doesn’t bother me – but you might want to take it into consideration.

Overall, the Beauty Wands get a 10/10 from me. I’m already wondering what I should try from Charlotte Tilbury next!
