Report: Premier League rivals in talks with Brazilian wonderkid, who Liverpool also want to sign

Liverpool’s Premier League rivals have entered talks to sign a player who the Reds have also targeted this summer.

Liverpool’s priority in the transfer market will be to bring in a wide player this summer. Michael Edwards clearly sees this position as an area where the Reds could reinforce their options.

Given how Liverpool have underperformed their expected goals tally severely this season, it makes sense to bring in new reinforcements.

Liverpool clearly need someone who can elevate the attack, and supplement the club’s goal-scoring output.

Wesley Gassova Liverpool transfer latest

But while Liverpool will be looking at first team options, Michael Edwards and his recruitment team will also assess future candidates who could fit the profile of what the Reds will need this summer.

One player who fits that category is Wesley Gassova, who is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar, but who might not be on his way to Anfield this summer.

Instead, he could be heading to the capital instead by signing for West Ham United. According to The Standard, Liverpool are interested in Gassova, however it’s West Ham United who have opened talks to sign him this summer, and who are looking to beat competition in order to land his signature.

Who is Wesley Gassova and just how highly rated is he?

Wesley Gassova is a 19-year-old left-winger, who plays for Corinthians in Brazil. He already has 60 first team appearances under his belt for the club.

In that time, Gassova has scored six goals and registered four assists. It’s important to note, a lot of his minutes have come off the bench, which explains his lack of output.

Agile, and very technically gifted on the ball, Gassova does seem like an exciting prospect. He is highly regarded in Brazil, but interestingly he hasn’t yet represented the national team even at youth level so far.
