'If you asked': Tim Sherwood names who he thinks are now Tottenham's two best players

Tottenham Hotspur have had an up and down season to say the least.

Spurs started the campaign brilliantly, but, in recent weeks, they have been absolutely dire.

Tottenham have now lost four games on the spin in the Premier League, and things aren’t looking great for the north London club in their race for the top four.

Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, Tim Sherwood has been analysing Spurs’ recent performances, and, interestingly, despite recent results, the pundit has named two defenders as Spurs’ best players this season.

Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero have been Tottenham’s two best players this season

Sherwood named Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven as Tottenham’s two best players this term.

“His two best players are Van de Ven, with the pace, but he will do his hamstring and Romero. If you asked him who has been his Player of the Season he would say Romero, so he isn’t changing those two,” Sherwood said.

Tottenham have been so inconsistent

Tottenham have had a number of players who have been brilliant at different parts of this season.

Yves Bissouma and James Maddison were fantastic during the early parts of the campaign, while Richarlison was brilliant during the early parts of 2024.

Van de Ven and Romero have probably been two of Spurs’ most consistent players, even if they haven’t always been the best.

Tottenham’s defence has been incredibly leaky as of late, and it’s hard to praise two centre-backs when that is the case, but, at the same time, it’s also hard to berate these two considering the lack of support they have in the midfield and at full-back.

Romero and Van de Ven have played at a similar standard for most of this season, and, individually, they have largely been good.

Tottenham have the defensive personnel to do well, they just need to work on their structure.
