Report: Arsenal could now sign 'complete' forward who's one of the 'game’s top young talents' for £55m

Arsenal will be eager to bolster their ranks in the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to get himself the final pieces of the jigsaw.

The Gunners have enjoyed a solid season where they remain in Premier League title contention with just two games left for them to play.

Whatever happens in the title race, Arsenal look like they have a bright future ahead of them thanks to the squad’s strong foundations.

One area where the Gunners could look to strengthen is in attack, as they don’t currently have an out-and-out No. 9.

Now, a report has emerged relating to the price tag of one of Arsenal’s purported attacking targets for the summer.

The player in question is RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, who has been lighting up the Bundesliga this season.

What has been said about Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko?

Transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Sesko’s release clause has gone up ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.

That fee is said to be around £55million, which is a fee Arsenal are seemingly still happy to pay for the 20-year-old.

Sesko has been deemed a more affordable option compared to other strikers on the Gunners radar, added Jones.

“Benjamin Sesko’s release clause is higher now than it was previously, but it still only stands at around £55million,” wrote Jones.

“For the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, that would fit within the parameters of any striker deal they would look to do in the summer.

“He has had a brilliant season and so has fellow forward Lois Openda, so it will be interesting to see if Leipzig can hold onto both of them.

“The likelihood is one leaves, and Sesko still seems affordable even though he will cost more than he did in the winter.”

Who is Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko?

Sesko would be an outstanding acquisition for Arsenal. He is very talented, physically imposing and, at just 20 years of age, can get a whole lot better still.

This season, Sesko has registered 16 goals and two assists from 40 Leipzig outings in all competitions.

The 6ft 4in talent has also won 27 caps for Slovenia and has netted 11 times for his nation.

The Bundesliga website has compared Sesko to Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, which is obviously a huge badge of honour.

Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell is quoted by the same outlet as saying: “Benjamin Sesko is among the game’s top young talents and has enormous potential to become a top player.

“He has all the qualities to do that. He’s extremely quick, has a great jump on him and is strong in the air.

“Benjamin is a real goalscorer, who despite his 1.95m is mobile and technically strong. His abilities make him a special player with a special profile.”

Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig has also likened Sesko to Haaland and deemed him a “complete forward” with 10 out of 10 potential.
