Judge Cannon 'going on a scorched earth campaign against Jack Smith': conservative writer

Judge Aileen Cannon and Special Counsel Jack Smith

Conservative writer Julie Kelly, a frequent Fox News guest, celebrated Tuesday after she said U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon launched a "scorched earth campaign" against special counsel Jack Smith.

In a Tuesday ruling, Cannon not only indefinitely suspended Donald Trump's trial date but also scheduled a series of hearings that could be designed to trip up Smith.

Kelly told War Room host Steve Bannon that the special counsel should expect "sleepless nights."

"She is going to be holding hearings on Trump's co-defendant, Walt Nauta's motion to dismiss based on selective and vindictive prosecution," Kelly said excitedly. "She is going to hold a hearing on a motion to dismiss based on the unlawful appointment of Jack Smith."

"She is also going to hold a hearing, and this is something that DOJ and Jack Smith was really hoping to avoid, and that is a partial evidentiary hearing on the scope of the prosecution team," she continued.

Kelly, a supporter of Jan. 6 conspiracy theories, predicted "bombshell revelations related to collusion with the Biden White House, the DOJ, and the National Archives."

"She is, in her own way, going on a scorched-earth campaign now against Jack Smith," she claimed.
