What Lewis Grabban did before Nottingham Forest beat Sheffield United

Lewis Grabban still clearly holds Nottingham Forest close to his heart, despite leaving after promotion to the Premier League.

The former Forest talisman departed for Saudi Arabia after the club chose not to keep him on at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Grabban had been the club’s primary talisman for a number of years and bagged 56 goals in 149 appearances.

The 36-year-old signed for Al-Ahli when he left the City Ground but never made a single appearance for the outfit.

Now, it would appear he’s back in England and on Saturday he was spotted at Bramall Lane to watch Forest against Sheffield United.

What Lewis Grabban did with Ryan Yates before Nottingham Forest win

The former striker chipped in with some important goals for Forest during his four years at the club.

He was injured for the play-off final win over Huddersfield but was one of the first to rush onto the pitch at full-time.

Grabban is clearly still a big fan of Forest and was once again in attendance as the Reds won at the weekend.

The matchday pass footage from the club’s media team showed Ryan Yates enjoying a warm embrace with Grabban.

It appeared as though they said something to each other, although it’s not clear what.

Yates and Grabban looked happy to see each other though and clearly, they had a good bond at the City Ground together.

Grabban underrated by Forest fans

Although he scored a number of good goals for Forest, some Forest fans struggled to take to Grabban.

He often proved a bit of a divisive figure and that didn’t seem largely fair given he was a top player.

Grabban was the captain when he was at the City Ground and many fans also thought he wasn’t a great leader.

That was pretty nonsensical given that Forest largely competed in and around the play-offs when Grabban was at the club.

Clearly, he’s fond of Yates and it was quite heartwarming to see the pair enjoy a warm embrace before the win for Forest at the weekend.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Grabban and perhaps in the future there can be a role for him at Forest.
